Queensland Scores 613—And Loses

(N.Z Press Association—Copyright) BRISBANE, October 29. The Australian test batsman, R. Simpson, scored a magnificent 359 runs for New South Wales against Queensland in a Sheffield Shield match at Brisbane today.

New South Wales were all out for 661 in their first innings and beat Queensland, which scored 613 and 27 for one, by 48 runs on the first innings.

Sampson became tibe first Australian batsman in 27 yeans to score 300 runs in an innings. It was the second highest score to Sir Donald Bradman’s 369 for South Australia against Tasmania in the

1935-36 season, and the fourth highest by an Australian.

Queensland’s first innings of 613 is believed to be the highest losing score in a firstclass match in the world.
