General Motors Sales Set New Record

NEW YORK, Oct 29. General Motors, the world's largest industrial corporation, today reported record sales and income in the first nxne months of this year. Net sales totalled 11.681 milj.on dollars (£5171 million)—a 12 per cent increase over the previous record total for the period, set last year. The record net income was 1086 million dollars.

The corporc. ion’s third quarter report revealed that factory sales of cars and lorries produced in General Motors factories throughout the world totalled 4.202.000 units during the nine months —a 12 per cent increase over the corresponding period last year. During the year ended September 30, United States fac-

tory sates totalled 4.503,000 ca rs and tomes—a company record exceeding any model or calendar year. The report said: "The 1983 totals reflected the increased demand tor G.M. vehicles in the United States and Canada and a s.rong upsurge in sales of vehicles manufactured overseas."
