Driver Hurt When Car Hits Bridge

A member of the United States Antarctic force, John Conroy. of 64 Woodham road, suffered head and facial injuries last evening When the car be was driving hit the stone coping on the Stanmore road bridge. The accident happened about 8.15 p.m. Mr Conroy was taken to the Christchurch Hospital by ambulance. He was transferred to the United States base at Harewood after being X-rayed and given treatment. The car was badly damaged and was towed away.
