CRICKET St. Albans Takes Lead In Senior Championship

St Albans, the only team to take maximum points from both games, now has a two-point lead in the senior cricket championship. The second round, begun on Saturday and completed yesterday, gave St. Albans and Riccarton outright wins, Old Boys and Lancaster Park taking first innings points.

East Christchurch-Shirley’s successful effort to avoid outright defeat made its match with Lancaster Park the most exciting of the day, but there were some startling individual performances in the other games.

The partnership of G. A. Bartlett and J. L. Williams, which produced 118 runs for West Christchurch-University in only 44 minutes, provided the season’s most spectacular scoring.

Lancaster Park 168 and 149 for five wickets, declared, beat East Christchurch - Shirley 133 and 85 for nine wickets by 35 runs on the first Innings.
