Compensation rates to growers for unsold table potatoes on hand at the end of the 1963-64 season wiM be guaranteed by the Potato Board at the same rate as last season, according ’to information contained in the board's latest bulletin. The rates for the various varieties are: Suttons and King Edward, North Island £l6, South Island £l4; Katahdiin, Chippewa and Constellation, North Island, £l5, South Island £l3; Dakota and Sebago, North Island. £l4, South Island £l2; all other varieties, North Island, £l3, Sbuth Island. £ll. The bulletin said the Government had agreed, as in previous years, to guarantee the board’s funds, which enabled the board to guarantee the compensation rates to the grower.

Compensation is payable only to growers who register with the board by taking out a contract, which must be sigped by October 21, 1963. Contracts were now available in Christchurch.

Present reports indicate there will be ample supplies of early potatoes available from the. Pukekohe district.
