FIREMEN’S DISPUTE
Telegram To Mayor (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Sept 10. The Wellington Firebrigadesmen’s Union yesterday sent a telegram to the Mayor (Mr F. J. Kitts) informing him that on September 24 Wellington flrebrigadesmen would work only fire duties, the secretary of the union (Mr T. M. Hill) said today. Mr Hill said he sent the telegram under the instructions of the Federation of Labour. Under the direction of the federation there was no intention at the moment to widen the dispute, he said. The telegram had been sent after yesterday afternoon’s meeting with the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) which he had attended with the federation president (Mr T. E. Skinner) and secretary, Mr K. McL. Baxter.
