Jury Acquits Solicitor
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. Sept. 11. A jury in the Supreme Court a<t Hamilton tonight acquitted James Corbett Black, a solicitor, aged 55, of Huntly, of a charge of forgery. Black pleaded not guilty to a charge of altering a genuine cheque, for £ I 2s 2d to £2l 2s 2d. with toe intention that it be acted on as genuine, thereby committing forgery Black previously appeared in the Supreme Court on 12 charges of forgery but was acquitted on 10. the jury disagreeing on two of the charges. On one of these a stay of proceedings had been successfully presented.
