CHILDREN’S ART CONTEST.—A seven-year-old boy, Peter Oswell, of Dallington, won a wristlet watch for this crayon picture of stone buildings. The picture was placed first in the junior section (six to nine years) of the art competition for children up to 14 years sponsored by Beath and Company, Ltd. There were nearly 700 entries, which were judged by Professor H. J. Simpson, professor of fine arts at the University of Canterbury.
