DEATH OF MR E. H. AUBREY
Long Association With Racing
E. H. Aubrey, who died last Friday after being injured in a car accident, had a long association with racing in North Otago. He was well known as an owner and administrator. At the time of his death he had been president of the Oamaru Jockey Cluib for a number of years and had been a member of the club’s committee for more than 30 years. As well, he was a member of the Dunedir. district com-
mittee of the New Zealand Racing Conference and a district delegate to the conference. One of the best horses Mr Aubrey owned was the smart sprinter Silver Streak. She won the. CJ.C. Stewards’ Handicap, in 1933, though not in Mr Aubrey’s ownership. Mr Aubrey was also known as an owner of show and jumping horses. Although he had lost a leg, he maintained an interest in horses to the time of his death.
