TEMPERANCE PROTEST
(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Sept. 6. The chiairman of the Southland council of the New Zealand Alliance, the Rev. L. M. Divers, said today he would accept an invitation to inspect the Invercargill Licensing Trust's new Glengarry Tavern. The trust made the in vitaton after receiving a letter from the council protesting agaiinst barmaids in the £45,000 tavern. The alhian.ee told the trust it was “degrading to womanhood” to use women and girls to glamourise the sale of a commodity which caused so much distress. Mr Divers is minister of the Central Me'jhodist Church in Invercargill.
