INSURANCE OF TAXIS
Premiums Held Unfair
(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, Sept. 6 Taxi drivers were not responsible for 75 to 80 per cent of the accidents they were involved in, the new president of the Taxi Proprietors’ Federation, Mr J. R Wilkinson • Hutt Valley) said in Rotorua. Speaking at the federation’s conference, he said because of the good safety record of taxi drivers over the last eight years, the payment of third party dues had been reduced from £25 to £l6. Mr Wilkinson said the insurance companies’ comprehensive insurance premiums on the taxi industry should have fallen accordingly but they had not.
