Magistrate’s Court Month’s Gaol For Theft As Servant
A month's imprisonment, ■to be served concurrently with another prison term, was imposed on Robert Mervyn Hills, aged 23, on a charge of theft as a servant, when he appeared before Mr K. H. J. Headifen, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Hills pleaded guilty. He had earlier pleaded not guilty and elected trial by jury.
Senior-Sergeant G. M. Cleary said that Hill took a coffee percolator, valued at £B. from the Flamingo restaurant at Harewood on April 8. The percolator had not been recovered. STOLE PETROL
Pleading guilty to stealing two tins of petrol from Burnham Sawmills, Ltd., on August 7, Struan Robinson Plunkett, aged 21, a timber worker, was fined £l5 and ordered to make restitution of £3 3s.
Senior-Sergeant Cleary said that Plunkett gave himself up to the police on Monday. Because of worries he had been drinking more than usual, and on the day of the offence he had drunk a large quantity of whisky aqd beer. One tin of petrol was used and the other was recovered TAX CHARGES
For failing to furnish returns of income, the following were fined: Charles Thomas Shaw, £5; John Morrison Barclay, £3; Thomas Heaton Barnes. £3; Thomas Henry Blackadder, £3; James Lyndsay Cockburn, £5; Bernard James Hayes Spanjer (two charges), £5 and £2; John Poutu Stirling. £3; the partnership of Henry Irving McGrath and Bernard Victor Soper, £6; Ronald Richard Pender (two charges), £5 and £3; Neville Henry Tillett, £5; the partnership of James Walter Watson and Bonny Audrey Watson, £6; John Leslie Mason, £5.
UNLICENSED SETS For using unlicensed television sets. the following were fined: Dusk Amai, £3; Clifton Halliday. £5; Barry Charles Johnson. £5; William Edward Johnson. £3; Augustus Nelson. £3; George O’MaUy, £3; A. Lorraine Webb. £5. UNREGISTERED DOGS The following were fined for failing to register dcgs: Malcolm Millar. £2; Margaret Moya, £2: Edwin Morris Robinson. £T, William Siataga. £2: George Sherrif. £3; Peter Desmond Connor. £2; Anne Franks, £2; William HeuveJmans, £3; Thomas Hodder, £2; Clyde McDonald, £3; Kay McWatt, £2. HYDATIDS CHARGES For failing to produce dogs for hydatids treatment, the following were fined: Mavis Newlove. £2; Maurice Smith. £2; Thomas Hodder, £1; Albert Jack Johannsen, £2.
