N.Z. Players Qualify (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Aug. 20. Three New Zealand players are among the 32 qualifiers for the match-play in the Australian women's golf championship at Royal Sydney, beginning tomorrow. The field also includes five English women and four Canadians. The New Zealanders who qualified are Mrs J. Mangan with an aggregate 165 Miss P. Harrison (167) and Miss U. Wickham (168). Miss Wickham, who got through on the maximum qualifying score meets the top British player. Mrs M. Spearman (156), in the first round. Miss S. Grigg, of Christchurch holed a 90-foot pitch at the eighteenth today for a birdie three. but with successive rounds of 85 failed to qualify. Miss N. White also missed out with rounds of 36 and 96. Mrs M. Streit, of Canada, broke her own Royal Sydney course record with a three-under-scratch 72 in the second qualifying round. She had a 74 in the first qualifying round and with 146 headed the qualifiers by 10 strokes. The other Canadian qualifiers are Mrs G. Cole (156), Mrs J Evans (160) and Miss R. Milligan (161). Mrs Spearman headed the English contingent with 156 with Miss R Porter and Miss S. Vaughan on 160. Miss J Greenhalgh (164) and Mrs R Smith (165). Three Australian professional golfers who made late entries for the £l5OO sponsored golf tournament at Hastings on September 16 and 17 have been accepted. As one earlier entrant has withdrawn, the field will now total 50. The late entries are L Thomas (Western Australia), R S. Brown and T W’elsh, both of New South Wales.
