Riccarton Facilities
Sir, —I complained about the same thing as “Mug Punter” on July 3, 1962, and Mr Bell replied that my complaint was unjustified. ‘ I was not aware that since building members a new stand we were given “full use of the main stand with all facilities.” True, but who would think of using stone stairs when children were allowed to race up and down all day? Parents even reserve seats for their children, and adults are told the seats are reserved for “Johnnie.” So the public have to stay at ground level. The simplest solution is to tack a notice up forbidding children to play on the stairs. —Yours, etc., EX-MEMBER’S WIDOW. August 14, 1963. [The secretary of the Canterbury Jockey Club (Mr F T. H. Bell) had no further comment to make.]
