INSPECTION OF MEAT
New Division's Staff
Christchurch is the administrative c entire for operations in Canterbury, Otago, Southland, and Westland of the new Meat Division of the Department of Agriculture. Mr W. G. Allan, formerly a supervising meat inspector in Wellington, is in charge of inspection standards in the area—the purpose is to standardise iaspectton judgments throughout the district—and he is also responsible for staffing arrangements in the area. In the four provinces the division has 144 meat inspectors in 14 freezing works, 10 abattoirs and two meatpacking houses. Dr. J. G. Fowler is the Meat Division veterinarian in the area.
