Four measures were introduced and read a first time when Parliament resumed yesterday afternoon. They were the Workers’ Compensation Amendment Bill, the Industrial Oonciflliaitton and Arbitration Amendment Bill, the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council Bill, and the Gaming Amendment Bill. The Auckland Gas Company Amendment Bill received a second reading. The following classes of Estimates, with the amounts actually spent last year in brackets, were approved: State coalmines account, £7.700.000 (£7.505,896). Crown law office, £60,000 (£53,540). Justice Department, £3.500,000 (£2.998,744). Maori Affairs Department. £ 1,300,000 (£1,416,236).
