Radar On Mt. Fuji
The Japanese Meteorological Agency has completed plans tor the construction of a giant radar unit on top of Mount Fuji's Tsurugi Park, about 12.370 feet above sea level. It is scheduled for completion next autumn and will have a range of up to 500 miles. Observations from this radar station will be relayed by microwave circuit to the meteorological agency in Tokyo. The Mount Fuji equipment will be operated by remote control from Tokyo. When the radar unit is in full operation, Japan will have a very effective weapon in its yearly struggle to combat the ravages of the typhoon season.
