AIR FAIR FOR CITY
Proposal By League A limited type air exposition may be held in Christchurch next year. The Christchurch branch of Air League of New Zealand, which is working on the project, intends to call a meeting of interested bodies to discuss the proposal. It is intended to invite Australian and New Zealand airline operators to attend, and possibly one or two other airlines from overseas. The time proposed is Feb-ruary-March. to coincide with the completion of the newterminal wing housing the upstairs restaurant, and the runway extensions at Harewood. The Air League feels some sort of celebration should mark the occasion. Apart from this project, some informal talks have been held between interested persons and organisations with a view to having some form of aviation trade fair at Christchurch in 1966 as a follow-up to the air display planned to mark the opening if Mangere. It is hoped overseas operators who come to the Dominion tor the Mangere opening may be persuaded to come on to Christchurch.
