Taxation Appeal Allowed
An appeal by the Calder Construction Company, Ltd., against an assessment of income tax by the Commissioner of Inland Revenue was upheld by Mr Justice Wilson in a reserved judgment delivered in the Supreme Court yesterday. At the hearing of the appeal on August 2, Mr P. H. T. Alpers appeared for the appellant and Mr E. Rockel, of Wellington, for the Commissioner of Inland Revenue. The company appealed for exemption from taxation on the ground that its income was devoted entirely to the Calder Foundation, a charitable body.
