ACQUITTED OF BURGLARY
Found Guilty Of Conversion
Leonard Kevin Bradley, aged 30. a workman (Mr R L. Kerr), was found not guilty in the Supreme Court yesterday of bungling the premises of Fish Processing. Ltd., and guilty of converting a truck belonging to the company. For the Crown, Mr I. C. J. Polson said the premises at 245 Moorhouse avenue were found to have been burgled on Monday, June 3. The truck and half a case of fish were missing. One of the firm’s fishsplitters later recognised the truck in town and recognised Bradley at the wheel. On June 5 the police found the truck, which then had an empty fish case in the back When questioned. Bradley denied all knowledge of the matter. Addressing the jury, Mr Kerr said that both charges depended on identification of the truck and of Bradley In addition there was no evidence to support the view that Bradley was near the premises on the night of the offence. Mr Justice Macarthur remanded Bradley for sentence on August 9.
