Fifth Birthday Outing
The Canterbury East Centre Country Women’s Institute celebrated its fifth birthday recently. Members paid a morning visit to the Christchurch Dental School, where they saw students at work under the guidance of trained dentists. A luncheon was held at the Sign of the Takahe, and the birthday cake was cut by Mrs A. M. Riches, president of the Canterbury East Federation. The centre institute was fulfilling a need in the lives of countrywomen who now resided in the city of Christchurch, she said.
