PARTY FOR GUIDES
Future Leaders Entertained
Send©? members of the North Canterbury Girl Guide movement recently gave a party for guides aged 16 years, who ace the movement's prospective rangers and leaders. To stimulate their interest, representatives from each senior group outlined their programme. Apart from the special skills learned by cadets and air, land and sea rangers, the emphasis in these groups .is on community service, the guides were told. “Design for Living.” a film depicting a cross-section of English girls working for the Duke of Edinburgh Award, was shown during the evening. New Zealand girls have become eligible for the award. Guides and their commissioners from as far afield as Hororata and Springfield attended. Also present were Mrs J. Powell, the North Canterbury Provincial Commissioner, and Mesdames H. Grigg and L. Nimmo, divisional commissioners.
