Cardiac Unit Discussions
(N.Z Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 22. The Minister of Health (Mr McKay) will meet the Otago Hospital Board and representatives of the University of Otago in Dunedin on Wednesday night of next week in rep’y to the protest concerning his decision to establish the second cardiac surgery unit at Wellington. Mr McKay made his offer to meet the board today in a telephone call received by the chairman, Dr. J. Fulton, during the board’s monthly meeting. A report for the Minister will be drawn up by a subcommittee of the chairman, and Messrs H. L, Gibson and H. S. Ross, who will confer with university representatives. It will come before a special meeting of the board next Monday or Tuesday.
