TRUEMAN IN WRAPS
‘Key For Ashes’ (N 2.P^.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, July 22. The England fast bowler, F. J. Trueman, was being “wrapped in cotton wool” to prepare him for the Australian cricket tour of England next year, the “Daily
Express’* said today. The newspaper said Trueman was not even being asked if he would be available for the M.C.C.'s twomonth tour of India this winter.
The selectors regarded Trueman as the key man in England’s fight for the Ashes next summer.
The newspaper quoted the M.C.C. assistant-secretary, Mr D. Carr, as saying: “The selectors feel he should have a rest from cricket for a winter in preparation for the Australian series here next summer.” Trueman said: “I am in the M.C.C.’s hands. F’ll do whatever they want.” The newspaper said Trueman's omission would not go down well in lidia where he is regarded as a top “crowdpuller.”
