Education Remits
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, July 22
Assistance to back country residents was the purpose of several remits on education which a committee of the national Party conference will recommend to the full conference for adoption. The remits were:— (1) That the Education Department devise a system making teaching in country schools’ more rewarding, and that country service classification be revised. (2) That to stop the serious drift of working men away from the back country, the Government be urged to make larger school boarding allowances available where there is no alternative to boarding. (3) That the Government be asked to provide immediately increased boarding facilities for country children at existing high schools.
