Disabled Men Send Barometer
A barometer, set in New Zealand honeysuckle wood and paua shell, was given to the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr G. Manning) yesterday morning to present to the Mayor of Christchurch, Hampshire, on behalf of the Christchurch branch of the Disabled Servicemen’s Reestablishment League. “My committee fejt it would like to establish a link with Christchurch in Hampshire through a product of our league,” said the Dominion president of the league and chairman of the branch (Mr D. W. Russell), who presented the barometer to Mr Manning. The barometer bears a silver engraved plaque with the inscription: “Presented to the Mayor of Christchurch, Hapipshire, from the Disabled Servicemen’s Re-establish-ment League, Christchurch, New Zealand, 1963.” “This will provide a lovely opportunity for me to show and express our warm feellings to the sister city of Christchurch,” said Mr Manning. “It will be an added link between Christchurch, Hampshire, and Christchurch, New Zealand, for all time.”
