Production Increase (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE. July 23. North Broken Hill, Ltd., treated 421,000 tons of crude ore in the year to June 30 —an increase of 20 per cent, on the 352,374 tons treated in 1961-62. Receipts at Broken Hill from the sale of metals totalled £4,679.000 after deducting freight and treatment charges. Figures released yesterday showed further increases in prices realised for metals during the three months to June 30.
The average for lead rose from £66 7s 5d in the March quarter to £72 7s 5d a ton, lifting the year's average to £66 4s 9d (previous year £7l 16s 7d a ton).
Average price for silver increased from 11/0.2d an ounce in the March quarter to 11 /4.3 d and the year’s average was 10/7.7d (8'6.8) an ounce.
The average for zinc was £9O Ils 8d a ton, compared with £BB 15s in the March quarter, and average for the year was £B7 6s Id (£B9 8s 8d) a ton.
Receipts rose from £1,265,000 in the March quarter to £1,548,000 in the latest three months, and compared with an average of £933.000 a quarter for the first six months.
