BUSH FIRE CAUSES
Investigation Made (Parltamontarv Reporter) WELLINGTON. July 23 The cause of fires tn the South Westland bush was being investigated with the help of the police said the Minister of Forests <Mr Gerardi in Parliament today Mr P Blanchfleld iOpposition, Westland) asked whether Forest Service officers were issuing warnings against indiscriminate lighting of fires m the district “I am aware of the three fires which occurred m South Westland during a spell of unseasonable dry weather They were quickly brougbunder control by Forest Service and Ministry of Works staff before any damage was done.” he said "Even tn winter months fire danger can arise and Forest Service officers are taking all precautions necessary.”
