The Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Bill was read a first time and referred to the Local Bills Committee when Parliament resumed yesterday afternoon.
The annual reports of the Post Office and the General Assembly Library were tabled. The House proceeded with the Budget debate, the speakers being:— Government: Messrs A. D Dick (Waitaki). G. G Grieve (Awarua). H. R Lapwood (Rotorua), the Minister of Customs (Mr Shelton), the Minis’er of Internal Affairs (Sir Leon Gott), Messrs L. F. Sloane (Hobson), L. R. Adams-Schneider (Hamilton).
Opposition: Messrs R. Macdonald (Ponsonby), N. V Douglas (Auckland Central). J. G. Edwards (Napier). H. L. J May (Onslow).
