FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression over the North Island is moving south-eastwards, while a cold front advances on to the South Island from the south Tasman Sea. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate southerlies, strong in exposed places: cloudy and colder, with areas of rain and some snow in the higher country. Outlook: becoming fine. Marlborough.—Southerlies, strong in exposed places: cloudy and cold, with periods of rain chiefly in coastal areas. Outlook: partly cloudy. Nelson.—South-westerlies freshening by afternoon; some showers chiefly about the ranges, rather cold. Outlook: fine. Buller and Westland.—Moderate or fresh southerlies prevailing: showers at first, but mainly fine by evening; cold. Outlook: scattered showers. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
