CAR TYRE PRESSURE
(By a Reuter Correspondent) BALTIMORE (Maryland). A device which lets a driver know when his tyres are getting soft is one of the latest safety inventions for safety conscious motorists, it can even be used on aeroplanes.
An American, Mr Lewis Pope, conceived the idea after he was involved in a car accident, in 1957, which he believes was caused by insufficient air pressure in his tyres. The device consists of a series of warning lights on the dash board of the vehicle, with a separate light for each tyre. When the air pressure in any tyre drops below the desired level, the proper light begins to flash.
