HOME ELECTRIC AMENITIES
Increased Use Reported
Large increases in the number of some household amenities, particularly refrigeiators, washing machines and electric stoves, took place between the censuses of 1956 and 1961. The Government Statistician (Mr J. V. T. Baker) reports that much higher proportions of the people bow have these amenities.
In the period under review the number of dwellings having unshared refrigerators increased from 54 per cent to 81 per cent Those having unshared washing machines increased from 56 per cent to 77 per cent
