Rebels A caused a major upset by beating the competition leader, Rex A. when the women’s indoor basketball games were continued at Cowles Stadium last evening. The lead in the senior grade la now shared by Rex A and Holy Trinity A. both teams having lost two games. Rex appeared to miss J. Taylor. who was Injured in a representative match at Blenheim last Saturday. In an exceptionally low scoring match Rebels had the edge on Rex throughout, and had more success with shots at goal. For most of the game Rebels held a margin of one point, but good defensive rebounding gained them ample possession, and this proved to be a vital factor. Rex appeared hesitant on attack, and when its players were closely marked many passes went astray and several long iliots were well wide of the ring. C. Ogilvie and B. Rogers were prominent throughout for Rebels, a fine goal ov Ogilvie near the end of the match giving Rebels a clear lead. Holy Trinity A overwhelmed University, and with a variety of attacks left the University defence floundering. With A. Bailee outstanding throughout, and combining well with S Chamberlain and D. Entwhistle. Holy Trinity scored 'almost at will, and the final score could have been even higher in its favour. Only in the last few minutes of play did University look at all impressive, and J. Park and T. Thomas combined well to score with good shots. In the other senior game. Holy Trinity B beat Teachers' College. Holv Trinity was »erior throughout and made ter use of the ball on attack

With N. Tregorring again prominent as a guard and directing the fast-breaking forwards. C. Sullivan and M. Doherty, the team eluded the taller College ’defence to score some fine baskets. College defended tenaciously, but lacked the experience to cope with its better-drilled opponent. B. Blake was the moot impressive player for College, but lacked support from team-mates when on attack. Rangiora had the bye. Results were
