The committee reported that it had several applications from eating-house proprietors who wanted to supplement their activities with a certain amount of entertainment. It proposed to ask each applicant to advise the full extent of his prop<«als and each case would b-‘ considered on its merits If the premises were fully complying, public building licences would be issued where appropriate, and in o’her cases where the extent of the entertainment did not r “cessitate a licence conditions would be laid down. The policy would be to allow Saturday night functions to continue until 2 a.m. on Sunday in approved cases, but any failure to comply with that closing time would result in action being taken by the council. “I thought 1 o'clock or 12 o’clock was late enough,’* said the Mayor (Mr G.
