Presidential Medal (N.Z PA.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, July 7. President Kennedy has chosen 3L persons—including the first negroes and the first women—to receive the Presidential 'ledal of Freedom, the -New York ‘•Herald-Tri-bune” reported. One of the recipients of the medal participated in both “firsts.” She was Miss Marian Anderson, a negro opera singer. Another Presidential Medal was presented to a negro d plomat. Mr Ralph Bunche. the United Nations undersecretary for special political affairs. The gold medal is the highest civilian honour an American President can confer for service in pe e time, the newspaper said
