Incendiarism Suspected

(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS, July 1. The police believe an incendiarist may be trying to burn down the United Empire Box Company’s factory in Omahu road, Hastings. Three times within 30 hours during the week-end fires occurred at the factory. On three other occasions since the end of February this year, fires have been reported. The second fire a< the weekend was discovered while police were in the building investigating the first fire. Early this morning while night watchmen were on patrol and all lights were burning, the third fire was discovered.

Fire in Building.— Slight damage to the building was caused when fire broke out in the Riccarton Grain and Produce Store, 110 Waimairi road, at 1255 aun. yesterday. Engines from the Sockburn and Sydenham fire stations put out the blaze, which started in bags of coke.
