The South Island final of Rothman’s touimaiment is to be played in Christchurch on the afternoon of August 10. The board decided to suggest to foe council that the school be held on foe weekend of August 3-4, which would enable the players to attend the South Africa v. Kiwis would be ineligible; members of foe Rotorua training school would not be ineligible but were not likely to be chosen as it was hoped to increase the numbers benefiting from schools' instruction. It was hoped to play a match between a training school side and a Canterbury team on foe last day of the school.
