MR JUSTICE LEICESTER

Chief Justice Pays Tribute

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON ( June 28. In the last 10 years no fewer than eight judges have died while still holding their commissions and still actively engaged in their judicial work. The Chief Justice (Sir Harold Barrowclough) said this at a gathering in the Supreme Court today to pay tribute to the late Mr Justice Leicester. ‘‘Our late brother was one of those who gave his whole life to the profession which he so signally adorned and who never lived to know the happiness of a leisure which he was especially qualified to enjoy.” said Sir Harold Barrowclough. “All of us held our late brother in the highest esteem and affection.”

Tributes were also paid by the Attorney-General (Mr Hanan) and others.
