NEW ENGLISH CHANNEL TUNNEL SCHEME.—Plans and models of a revised Channel tunnel scheme have been on show in France recently. The new plan would mean a much shorter tunnel under water, linked by two long ferry roads from the French and English coasts. A model of what the interior of the tunnel would look like is shown in this picture. It is, in fact, two tunnels, with four traffic lanes in each, and a railway at both sides. The plan shows how the proposed tunnel would be ventilated.
