UNVEILING OF STONE

Methodist Sunday

School Hall

The foundation stone of a new Sunday school hall, at St. Stephen’s Methodist Church, Yaldhurst, was unveiled on Saturday afternoon by the chairman of the North Canterbury Methodist Synod (the Rev. H. G. Brown). The Rev. J. D. Growth superintendent of the Methodist Riccarton circuit, presided. After the unveiling a short service was held.

The building, as yet unfinished, is in pink stone and has an iron roof. It is hoped to complete it in about two months. There will be room for up to 100 children, and a modern kitchen will be provided

A new church and youth hall are planned, and as the area develops all the existing church buildings will be expanded and rebuilt.
