10-Hour Search For Old Man
(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 30. John Christopher Ekdahl, aged 86. who failed to return to Restihaven Home for the Aged at Hawera on Saturday afternoon was found 10 hours later lying injured in an engineers’ yard and was taken to Hawera Hospital. Tonight his condition was satisfactory. A search for Mr Ekdahl began shortly after 2 p.m. A nightwatchman, Mr D. Hamblyn, found Mr Ekdahl early this morning. He had stumbled over steel rods and piping stacked in the yard.
