Miss Mary Gillett, a young air hostess of Pan American Airways, who suffered two spinal fractures in an aircraft accident at Amsterdam last July, has been selected to represent the airline in the "Miss International Air Hostess” contest to be held at Surfers’ Paradise, Australia. After the accident, Miss Gillett spent five weeks in hospital in Holland and was flown to New Zealand to stay with her parents. Mr and Mrs A. F. Gillett, of Dallington. for recuperation. “Mary made a miraculous recovery,” Mrs Gillett said yesterday. “During the four months she was at home she never complained, and spent most of the time improving her French.” Now stationed at New York, Miss Gillett has flown as an air hostess on most of the company’s air routes since her return to work last December.
