A man who otole a watch valued at £375. from a house in Wellington, travelled to Chnmtcharch that night and sold it to a second-hand denier there for £4 because he did not know its worth, it was alleged in the Magictrace's Court. »t Welhngto.’ Pleading guilty before Mr M B. Scully. S.M.. to four charges of theft, Peter McRae. aged 54, unemployed was remanded for a week for a probation officers report and sentence Mcßae, who was short of money, had gone to a house where he used to live. He saw the complainants bedroom door ajar, went in, and took the watch, a transistor radio, an overcoat, and £lO in cash, the police prosecutor. Senior-Detective A W. Baker said.
The watch had been recovered from the dealer by the Christchurch C.IB.
