Air Hostess Quest

Miss Diana Brabam will represent the National Airways Corporation in the “Miss International Air Hostess" quest in Australia this month. The contest will be held at Surfers Paradise, Queensland, in aid of International Red Cross. Hostesses from world air lines, including Pan American. Air India, Alitalia, and many others, will take part in the quest. Miss Brabant has been with N.A.C. since July, 1959, and her responsibilities now include the tuition and training of new hostesses. She was born in Fiji, where her father. Mr W. J. S. Brabant, was, until his recent retirement, financial adviser to the Fijian Affairs Board. Her education started at the Suva Girls' Grammar and Preparatory School and continued in NewZealand. Later she spent

several years in Britain studying and working in the theatre. Returning to New Zealand, she was engaged in modelling work and advertising before joining N.A.C. In the picture above she is seen being congratulated on her selection to represent N.A.C. by the Minister in Charge of Civil Aviation (Mr McAlpine).
