MELBOURNE. June 12. Two New Zealand women golfers were praised as “top all-rounders" by the Melbourne “Herald” golf writer, Ken Knox, today. In his weekly column Knox said: “Most members of the teams which will compete in the women’s Commonwealth golf series at Royal Melbourne in August show a healthy interest in many sports—but the two top - all-rounders will come from New Zealand.

“They are Susan Grigg, of Christchurch, and Una Wickham, from Tauranga."

Knox said: “Susan Grigg is one of the few people to have won New Zealand championships in totally different sports.

“In 1937, live years after taking up the game, she won the New Zealand women’s golf ehampionship. But in 1953 she had been New Zealand ' ice skating champion. "Una Wickham, winner of the New Zealand championship in 1939, has represented her country in golf six times. She also was a member of the New Zealand cricket teams in 1948 and 1949."
