PREVENTING ESCAPES
More Security At Paparua
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, June 12.
Additional security measures had been taken in the light of the report of Mr E. S. J. Cruitchley, S.M., into the escape of Crow and Moore from Paparua Prison on April 15, said the Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan), today. Mr Hanan said the report was most comprehensive and valuable, but it would not be proper to release it, as an inmate was facing trial on a serious charge arising out of the circumstances of the escape. He said that Prison Officer Rodgers, who was injured at the time of the escape, expected to resume duty next week.
