PUBLISHERS’ PLEA
Duty-Free Paper (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 12. The Book Publishers' Association will write to the Minister of Customs (Mr Shelton) asking him to place the raw materials of book manufacture on the same basis as completed books, which are brought into the country free of import duty and without a licence. The publishers say they would like to place more work with New Zealand printers, rather than send printing work overseas, but because of the present import restrictions. the New Zealand printer cannot offer the same range of paper as his overseas competitor.
