Magistrate’s Court DRIVER FINED £l0 FOR THIRD OFFENCE IN YEAR

“On the face of it your driver’s licence should be taken away—this is your third driving offence in a year. I am reluctant to do so because the person who will be most affected will be your elderly father,” said Mr A. P. Blair, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday when fining Eamon Mark Molloy £lO on a charge of driving without due care and attention. Molloy pleaded guilty. Molloy was originally charged with driving in a manner which might have been dangerous. He pleaded not guilty to this charge, which was reduced after the prosecution case had been presented. Mr W. F. Brown appeared for the defendant. Sergeant J. McMorran, of the City Council traffic department, said the charge arose out of a collision between two vehicles at the corner of Durham and Armagh streets at 6.15 p.m. on February 21. It was not a bad case, but it was alleged that Molloy was on the wrong side of the road. when the accident occurred.

After Molloy pleaded guilty to the reduced charge, Mr Brown said his client had given up work to look after his father, who was aged 81, and was living on his savings. He had not seen the other vehicle.
