Greymouth To Back Quest
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. June 11.
The Greymouth Junior Chamber has decided it is time to give young people on the West Coast a better opportunity to compete in the contests to find “Young Miss New Zealand" and “Young Mr New Zealand.” The Junior Chamber has set up a sub-committee to conduct the local quest “The main reason we decided to assist was to give West Coast teen-agers a chance in the contest,” said the convener of the sub-committee, Mr D Truman, today. He said the contest would be open to all young persons living in Westport and south of there who have had their sixteenth birthday or are under 21 on July 5. They must have the School Certificate or its equivalent. The object of the search is to find the boy and a girl who best typify New Zealand youth The contestants will be judged on personality and character, educational attainments, activity in community affairs out of school, and accomplishments in Worthwhile recreations.
