Mrs Feldman is the second violinist of the Alard Quartet, which arrived in Christchurch from Pennsylvania last week. Her violin was made in Australia. The quartet will work with
the University's music department for three years giving university and public concerts. and tuition to
students. “It is hard to find four people who can be compatible for such a long time of close association,” said Mrs Feldman. She is the newest member of the quartet, and she has been playing with it for four years. Mrs Feldman’s husband is the ’cellist in the quartet. Before Mr and Mrs Feldman joined the quartet, Mr Feldman completed a master’s degree at Eastland School, New York “I was just a violin-practising housewife,” said Mrs Feldman. “My husband then joined the quartet and it was a year before there was another vacancy, and 1 joined.” Mrs Feldman did not play professionally before joining the quartet, but she has played violin solo recitals, and solos with orchestras as well as playing in many orchestras. Mr and Mrs Feldman have a five-months-old son, Willianj. He made working with the quartet a little harder, but not impossible, said Mrs Feldman
